W.A MOZART - ORCHESTRAL MASS

  • Sunday, January 17, 2016
  • 10:00 AM 12:00 PM 10:00 12:00
  • Google Calendar ICS

Every January, the renowned Choir of St James performs a series of Orchestral Masses with full period orchestra and with soloists usually drawn from within the choir. This reflects the Viennese tradition of music-making that is so common in that country, and the repertoire often reflects it's origins and features the works of Mozart & Haydn.

This year is no exception. Mozart's 'Spatzenmesse'; Roxanna Panufnik's 'Westminster Mass'; and Joseph Haydn's 'Harmoniemesse' in Bb Major.

Services begin at 10:00am every Sunday from the 17th January (subsequent Sundays being the 24th & 31st) and refreshments (incl. wine) are served in the covered courtyard following the service. Please be aware that these are liturgical performances. The choir will be using these to springboard its concert activities throughout 2016 - which also includes a monumental tour to Europe, including services in London (a week at Westminster Abbey), Paris, Vienna, & Rome as well as official ANZAC Services in London upon our return from the continent.
