I am thrilled to be ‘getting the band back together’ with some wonderful colleagues to present this program as part of the Musica Viva Sydney Sessions on 16 February 2021 in the wonderful surrounds of The Calynx in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. Featuring one of the largest and most spectacular vertical floral walls in the southern hemisphere, this Sessions event combines music, science and wine!
Experience a varied program of works with a capella group Vocal Detour. This program celebrates nature with a range of music from the Baroque period to new Australian compositions, while surrounded by the Calyx’s latest exhibition ‘inBLOOM’.
Beginning at 6:30pm, Paul Nicholson, historian and horticulturalist, will take you on a brief journey through the evolution of flowering plants. Discover the stories behind some of the most beautiful, weird and amazing flower adaptations on display in the Calyx exhibition ‘inBLOOM’ and in the wider world of plants.
Enjoy a glass of wine on arrival as we invite you into the inspiring Calyx for an intimate musical and botanical experience.
